New hope!? when RIM is going to release first QNX-based smartphone
So you might already know that BlackBerry PlayBook found many problem to get to its success.
Even the QNX-based OS impressed us with cool gesture control, multi-threading, and HD video. The device itself could not stand too long in tablet war (Thank you for iPad and Android Tablet who set these device’s standard)
The point that I want to tell you here, because PlayBook is already support Adobe AIR application as first citizen for QNX-based. So since the first announcement of PlayBook, I hoped it would be the second platform that Adobe developer and designer can relied on.
Anyway, it looks like RIM still stand for this QNX system. They announced a whole new QNX smartphone in earlier of 2012. Even they just announced a BlackBerry OS 7 phone last week.
So is this a new opportunity for AIR developer? Yes, I’m sure. because the architecture of QNX OS is already supported Adobe AIR application. So the smartphone should not different from the tablet too much and the hardware specification is quite high and equal to top line smartphone nowadays.
Will RIM’s QNX survive this smartphone war?
So at this point, RIM still keep going on QNX OS. They also told the world that they already planned to migrate all next-generation device to QNX OS. So we have to keep in touch with this changing. If RIM made this, it will give you the best chance to own all RIM device with your Adobe AIR application.
So how do you think about this news? Would RIM survive this mobile device war and return to the throne?
