จาก Adobe ถึง Apple (อีกครั้ง)
เมื่อวานนี้ Kevin LYNCH, CTO ของ Adobe ได้เขียน Blog ของเขาที่มีหัวเรื่องว่า Open Access to Content and Applications โดยข้อความสำคัญ ได้กล่าวถึงการที่ Adobe Flash กำลังรุกเข้าตลาดอุปกรณ์พกพา แต่กลับได้รับการปฎิเสธจากอุปกรณ์สายแข็งอย่าง iPhone และ iPad ที่เพิ่งเปิดตัวมา โดยเขาได้กล่าวถึงการร่วมมือที่ประสบผลสำเร็จอย่าง Nexus One และ Flash Player 10.1 โดยผมจะขอยกใจความสำคัญมาแปลในที่นี้นะครับ
We are now on the verge of delivering Flash Player 10.1 for smartphones with all but one of the top manufacturers. This includes Google’s Android, RIM’s Blackberry, Nokia, Palm Pre and many others across form factors including not only smartphones but also tablets, netbooks, and internet-connected TVs.
“เรากำลังนำ Flash Player 10.1 มาสู่ Android ของ Google, Blackberry ของ RIM, Nokia, Palm Pre และไม่เพียงแค่ smartphones เท่านั้น แต่รวมไปถึง Tablets, netbooks, และ Internet TVs อีกด้วย”
So, what about Flash running on Apple devices? We have shown that Flash technology is starting to work on these devices today by enabling standalone applications for the iPhone to be built on Flash. In fact, some of these apps are already available in the Apple App Store such as FickleBlox and Chroma Circuit.
“แล้ว Flash ในอุปกรณ์ของ Apple ล่ะ? พวกเราได้แสดงให้เห็นแล้วว่า Flash กำลังเริ่มทำงานกับอุปกรณ์พวกนี้่ผ่านทาง standalone application สำหรับ iPhone ที่สร้างด้วย Flash ซึ่งจริงๆ แล้ว application พวกนี้อยู่บน App Store แล้ว อย่าง FickleBlox และ Chroma Circuit”
We are ready to enable Flash in the browser on these devices if and when Apple chooses to allow that for its users, but to date we have not had the required cooperation from Apple to make this happen.
“พวกเราพร้อมที่จะทำให้ Flash สามารถรันได้บน web browser ที่อยู่บนอุปกรณ์พวกนี้ ถ้า Apple เลือกที่จะให้ทำ เพื่อผู้ใช้ของพวกเขา แต่จนถึงตอนนี้พวกเราไม่ได้รับการขอความร่วมมือจาก Apple ที่จะทำให้สิ่งนี้เป็นความจริง”
โดยคุณ Kevin ยังได้ย้ำว่า HTML 5 จะไม่ใช่การสิ้นยุคของ Flash อย่างแน่นอน แต่จะเป็นการเดินไปพร้อมๆ กัน ไม่มีใครจะมาแทนที่ใครได้ง่ายๆ เพราะ Flash มีความแข็งด้านการพัฒนาที่ซับซ้อนน้อยกว่า
